UUSI LEVY on nimeltään Skinny Dipping

Vuonna 1989 suomalaisen rock-elämän tajunnan räjäytti Balls ja ennenkaikkea bändin solisti Marjo Leinosen ilmiömäisesti Janis Joplinia muistuttava raa'an karhea laulusoundi. Kymmenen vuoden ja neljän albumin jälkeen Balls on yhä yksi maan tiukimmista klubibändeistä, joka soittajiensa sivuprojektien takia on turhan usein joutunut pitämään taukoa omassa keikkailussa.
Vuonna '99 Balls keskittyi uusien biisien treenaamiseen, mutta tänä vuonna yhtyettä on jo nähty ja tullaan näkemään livenä pitkän odotuksen jälkeen. Marjo Leinonen on Balls -kiireiden ohella ehtinyt esiintyä Helsingin Juhlaviikoilla ja Turun Hamburger Börsissä järjestettyjen Badding-iltojen kiitettynä solistina.

Pitkän odotuksen jälkeen, huhtikuussa 2001 julkaistiin tuottaja Mitja Tuuralan ja Ballsin rollaava näkemys Motown- klassikosta I Can't Get Next To You, joka sai rohkaisevan vastaanoton. Jatkoa seurasi kiekollinen joulukuussa 2001, jolloin julkaistiin kauan hiottu helmi Skinny Dipping. Albumi herätti välittömästi median kiinnostuksen. Kiekko valittiin heti alkuunsa mm. Ilta Sanomien Plus-liitteessä viikon levyksi neljän tähden voimalla.

Story of "Jungle In A Barrel"

Healty dose of old irresistable rhythm & blues and rough groove with a strong scent of psychedelia are the basic elements the BALLS build their music on. Famous for their sweaty gigs and, above all, their singer Martha "More" Joy who´s one tough woman and whose voice has often aroused comparisions with Janis Joplin. She made her screen debut in the Mika Kaurismäki film "Zombie".

Three albums below the belt before they wanted to make THE ALBUM that is different...and it happened. Producer Jack "The Snake" Cascade (6ft4" tall and horrible nature a´la Phil Spector) gave them a ride they never believed to witness. It was Spring when Martha did soundcheck for a song for three days before actually singing anything. It was Spring when Jesus De Peevo together with producer created the sound that follows through "Jungle In A Barrel". There was a barrel standing on Fender amp with little microphones and amps hanging inside of the barrel. At one point it was Jesus who did soundcheck for two solid days and then played 25 hours for one song.

Jack "The Snake" got fired on progress but he locked himself in to the studio for ten days to mix these songs again and again...sometimes the pressure gets one going.
